CHOP is a quaternary hospital providing care to some of the most medically complex patients from around the world as well as serving as the primary site for a diverse population from South and West Philadelphia. In addition, fellows identify an area of academic interest and pursue scholarship opportunities and an advanced degree through the U of PENN. Fellows complete a 3rd year as a "special research fellow" to complete a Master's program and provide clinical care on inpatient service
